BONDING
Bonding is a modern technique, much like the tooth colored composite fillings, which is frequently used on the anterior teeth. Like composite, bonding bonds directly to the existing tooth, reinforcing the strength of the tooth and making it more resistant to cracking, breaking, and chipping.
Bonding can be used to close gaps between teeth, change the color of your teeth, or repair cracked or chipped teeth. Like composite, bonding allows the dentist to preserve more of the original tooth structure than older procedures.
Bonding may also be used to straighten crooked teeth or change the size and structure of your teeth. The bonding technique allows the dentist to duplicate subtle tooth features to match the existing and surrounding teeth, such as translucency, color, and texture. Skilled cosmetic dentists who have undergone many hours of additional training in cosmetic dentistry are able to match the surrounding teeth so exactly using bonding, that it's nearly impossible to tell that the teeth have been restored.
