COMPOSITE
(TOOTH COLORED FILLINGS FOR POSTERIOR TEETH)

Composite is a tooth colored filling material that is used to repair decayed, chipped or cracked teeth.  The material is directly bonded to the tooth using adhesive dentistry.  This helps strengthen and reinforce the tooth.  This tooth colored restoration is natural looking, so no one will know your tooth has been restored.  These are used for small or medium sized fillings in posterior teeth.

BONDING- ANTERIOR TEETH

Bonding material is shaped and sculpted to the tooth using modern adhesive dentistry.  Bonding can close spaces, change the color of teeth, and repair fractured or chipped teeth.  It can change the size, shape or straighten crooked teeth.  When bonding you have the ability to duplicate subtle characteristics such as color, incisal translucency, and texture.

This is the most conservative of all options, and can actually help strengthen teeth while conserving more natural tooth structure.

POSTERIOR INLAYS - ONLAYS

Inlays or onlays are either gold or tooth colored restorations placed on the inside of the tooth and wrap over or cover the cusps of the tooth.

They are more durable than direct fillings as they are fabricated in the lab which makes them harder and more durable.

Onlays are more conservative than crowns and less tooth structure is removed.  When possible this is Dr. Hurley's treatment of choice, and has had porcelain onlays placed in her own mouth.

CROWNS   (CAPS)

A crown fits over the entire tooth and is placed when the tooth has large areas of decay, large fillings, or is severely damaged.

Crowns can change the color, shape, close gaps, and straighten teeth.  When crowns are bonded in place with the argon laser it helps strengthen and protect the remaining tooth structure.

Crowns can be all porcelain to eliminate the unsightly black line around the gum line.  This gives the teeth a more natural looking appearance. In our office this is the treatment of choice when crowns are required and our patients are thrilled with the results.

Crowns can dramatically change the appearance of your teeth.  Tooth color can be lightened to give you a more natural and beautiful smile. This procedure can be accomplished in as few as two appointments.

TOOTH REPLACEMENT
Using implants or bridge

A cemented fixed bridge replaces missing teeth by attaching to adjoining natural teeth. Bridges can be fabricated with or without metal for a more natural appearance in the front of your mouth.  In the back of your mouth a small amount of metal is used internally for strength, but cannot be seen from the outside.

Before bridge                                                      After bridge

Teeth shift when you are missing teeth causing difficulty in chewing, lips and gums can sink into vacant spaces, and adjoining teeth may become sensitive. A bridge keeps the surrounding teeth in their proper position.

Implants are artificial tooth supports surgically set in the jaw. They are integrated into the bone and act like an anchor (bolt).  The replacement tooth is then attached to the implant. This procedure requires office surgery and can take three to 6 months to complete.

IMPLANTS
Replace a missing tooth or teeth

Implants are an artificial tooth support that is placed within the jaw bone. After a healing period of several months, a crown is made and attached to the implant restoring the area to its natural function and esthetics.

PORCELAIN VENEERS

A porcelain veneer is a thin shell of porcelain that fits over the front of the tooth and is bonded in place.  They are more lifelike and durable than composite.  Porcelain veneers can dramatically change the appearance of your teeth.  They can mask dark stains, change the color, size and texture of teeth. Veneers can close gaps, strengthen teeth, and straighten them, creating instant orthodontics.

Before Veneers                                          After Veneers

Veneers are a more conservative treatment alternative to crowns as more natural tooth structure can be saved.  The argon curing laser is utilized to bond the veneer to the tooth, creating a stronger, lasting bond.

Before Veneers                                          After Veneers

Veneers can be built out to help erase the tiny wrinkles around the upper lip, and lengthened to give you a more youthful appearance.  Tooth color can be lightened to give you a more natural, dazzling smile. This helps brighten the face and can make a dramatic change in your appearance.  These changes can be accomplished in a few as two visits.

WHITENING/BLEACHING
"Only a dentist can get your teeth their whitest"

Tooth whitening is a safe, simple, procedure that lightens and brightens discolored teeth.  It removes stains caused by aging, coffee, tea, tobacco, medications, chemically induced stains, excessive fluoride, or accidents.  Crowns, veneers, or fillings do NOT bleach.

Before Bleaching                                          After Bleaching

Bleaching can be very cost effective. This simple procedure may be all that is needed to give you the smile that you desire.  It can be done in our office, in the privacy of your home, or a combination of both.

A gel containing carbamide peroxide is placed in a thin, custom made tray that fits snugly over the teeth.  The carbamide peroxide breaks down, giving off oxygen which enters the enamel and dentin, and bleaching the colored substances.  Tooth structure is not touched or changed.

A beautiful whiter and brighter smile can be yours!

NIGHT GUARDS

Night guards are appliances used to help alleviate grinding or bruxing at night.  Sometimes they are worn during the day, as when a patient drives long distances or in congested traffic.

SPORTSGUARD

Patient's teeth need protection while playing sports.  Custom made mouth guards provide protection to help prevent dental/facial injuries.  The only mouth guard that should be worn is one made from a model of the patient's teeth, and should be changed as the patient's mouth grows.  Each mouth guard is custom designed taking into consideration what sport or level of play.  The mouth guard can even be made in school colors.

SNORE GUARDS

During sleep the muscles and soft tissues in the throat and mouth relax making the airway smaller, in turn making them vibrate when breathing. This results in "noisy breathing" or snoring. An appliance is available that can help prevent snoring. It is worn when sleeping and repositions the jaw to help decrease or prevent snoring.
