Who would order a yellow snap on smile?

I can’t believe I was having this ridiculous conversation with a dentist. She is not my regular dentist because my dentist doesn’t do snap on smile. Maybe I see why now. I got the thing and it fits right but it’s yellow. Who in the world would order a yellow snap on smile? She says it’s the color I approved. Also I cannot believe the lab would not question the color. I am disgusted and disappointed. Now what? Ally

Ally – Your concern is understandable. No one who wants to seriously improve his or her smile would ask for yellow teeth. You can respectfully speak with your dentist again about your disappointment, and ask what can be done to resolve it.

A Snap-On Smile is a colorfast appliance that fits over your natural teeth. Although the color of the appliance cannot be changed, it can be remade in the color of your choice.

We strongly encourage patients to ensure they have good and clear communication with a cosmetic dentist before receiving any treatment. Ask for a visual example of what you will receive. If you receive a restoration that was not what you wanted, immediately make it known to the dentist.

5 weeks in and the snap on smile is still messing up my speech

I expected an adjustment period with the snap on smile but not 5 weeks worth of an adjustment. I am beginning to think that something is wrong. If this thing is messing with my speech, I am afraid that it might start shifting my teeth too. I am a little nervous. Is this normal? - Kris

Kris - Your concern is valid. The adjustment period usually lasts about two weeks. After five weeks, you should no longer have an issue with your speech. If the Snap-On Smile is preventing you from speaking clearly, schedule an appointment with your dentist.

It is possible that the appliance can be adjusted while you wait. If a minor adjustment is needed, it will only take a few minutes. If there is a structural problem with the appliance, it will need to be returned to the laboratory for correction, or to be remade. After the usual adjustment period, don’t settle for a Snap-On Smile that doesn’t fit correctly or that interferes with your normal function.

Snap on smile is stuck on my teeth

How do I get the snap on smile off of my teeth to brush them? It won’t come off. I put something in the insides of the smile because it was loose and now it won’t come off. My breath is starting to smell bad. Please tell me how I can get it off without breaking the smile. Sammi

Sammi - It is not clear if the appliance you are describing is a Snap-On Smile that you received from your dentist, or if you obtained a similar appliance elsewhere.

Also, there is no indication of what you used to ensure that the appliance would stay on your teeth. Did you use dental adhesive or another substance?

We don’t have enough information to advise you on how to safely remove the appliance without damaging it—and more importantly without damaging your tooth enamel. We recommend that you schedule an appointment with a dentist to examine the appliance and to ensure that your tooth enamel is intact.

When you receive an oral appliance from a dentist that does not fit properly, be certain to protect your investment and your teeth by taking the appliance to your dentist to make the necessary adjustments.

Snap on smile or Invisalign?

I really want to change the way my teeth look but I don’t want other people to notice that I am doing it. I was thinking about Invisalign but I recently heard about the Snap on smile which will give me the best results the fastest? – Chelsee

Chelsee – Invisalign and the Snap-On Smile are two completely different solutions.

Invisalign® is an orthodontic treatment that straightens your teeth with clear aligners that are virtually invisible. The aligners are changed every two weeks to move your teeth to a new position. Treatment time is shorter than braces, but Invisalign is a little more expensive than braces. The aligners will precisely straighten your teeth.

A Snap-On Smile is an inexpensive cosmetic treatment that is made of plastic resin. It’s a new smile that snaps right over your teeth. It doesn’t straighten your natural teeth or enhance them in any way. The new smile design is placed over your teeth, and it’s meant to be temporary or to be used on special occasions. The Snap-On Smile will wear out quickly if you wear it every day.

If you want a permanent smile makeover, Invisalign or some other form of cosmetic dentistry will help. If you want to put a new smile over your teeth for special occasions only, you may consider the Snap-On Smile. But you need to visit a cosmetic dentist first so that you will have realistic expectations for whatever treatment you choose.

Change the color of my snap on smile?

Change the color of my snap on smile?

Hi. I got a snap-on smile about 2 years ago. I am used to it now and I don’t like the color. There is a little bit of life still left in the smile because I don’t wear it every day. I asked my dentist about changing the color and she said that it’s too late now. I would have to get a new snap-on smile, so it’s best to wait until this one wears out and if I want another one, we can adjust the color. Is it true that I can’t get the color changed now? – Carlee

Carlee – Your dentist is correct. There are many shades of color to choose from for the Snap-On Smile, but the color decision must be made before the final product is made.

If you want a new Snap-On Smile the color change can be made them. If you are inclined to continue purchasing the appliance, you may want to consider consulting with a cosmetic dentist to learn about longer-lasting treatment to restore your smile. You can learn about your options and how the treatment can be made affordable for you.
